The self-fusing butyl round cord has high adhesive strength, and boasts excellent insulating and moisture-resistant properties. The tape has good compatibility with metals, concrete, masonry, wood, glass, hard PVC, bitumen and painting systems. The very good adhesion properties enable a diverse combination in sealing systems. Ideally suited for mounting parts in the automotive sector, e.g. bonding lower door cladding films, attaching trim panels or sealing storage tanks, silos, trapezoidal plate roofs and similar items to prevent vibrations. Suitable for all overlapping sealing applications for assembly parts in the automotive and roof area, façade and equipment construction, in the furniture and interior construction industry, in sanitary and electrical installation as well as all similar applications such as involving grommets, sleeves, cable end caps or similar components.
Application instructions: The surfaces to be sealed must be dry, capable of bearing load and free from grease and dust. The application temperature should not be below +5°C. Absorbent and porous surfaces must be pre-treated with Würth butyl/bitumen primer. The butyl tape cord must be carefully pushed onto the surface. Pressing the sealing surfaces together results in a perfect seal. Butyl has a "cold flow" tendency (flow characteristic of the tape) Butyl products should therefore always be secured mechanically, e.g. screwing the parts, applying a press-on profile. When using a press-on profile, the profile manufacturer's specifications regarding the width of the butyl tape must be observed. Using excessive contact pressure on the profile will cause the sealing compound to be "pushed out". Never compress butyl products absolutely flat (use the supplied disc as a spacer)
