- Current measurement: Due to their design, open-type fork clamps are likely to produce greater measurement errors than closed current clamps. For the highest possible accuracy, ensure the electrical conductor is as centred as possible within the fork, aligned with the two horizontal markings. Measurement accuracy may vary significantly if the conductor is not in this position, especially where low currents are concerned.
- TRMS stands for True Root Mean Square and describes a measurement method which is indispensable for accurate measurement of alternating current and voltage using electrical devices, particularly multimeters. Conventional measuring devices often display only the average value of sinusoidal voltages, whereas TRMS devices calculate the true RMS value. This gives more accurate readings for modern, non-sinusoidal waveforms, such as those produced by electronic equipment.
