Together with the battery-powered fan unit SR 500, SR 500 EX or SR 700 and approved filters, the SR 580 forms part of the breathing protection system with fan support from Sundström.

The breathing hose of the helmet with visor is connected to the fan equipped with filters. The excess pressure generated inside the visor prevents the ingress of particles and other contaminants into the respiratory system.

SR 580 can also be used with the SR 507 compressed air add-on. This combination forms a breathing apparatus with a continuous airflow for compressed air connection. The equipment can be used as an alternative to filter protection in all situations where it is recommended. This is especially true for heavy, warm or lengthy work.
