Sanding steps in floor processing
1. Pre-sanding
Levelling of the laid wooden floor normally occurs in the first sanding stages. Here, the floor is pre-treated with relatively coarse-grain sanding material and sanded flat to a large extent.
Caution: Unevenness in the sub-floor can only partially be remedied via sanding down.
2. Mid-range sanding
The mid-range sanding leads to refinement of the surface. The more precise the co-ordination of the sanding stages and the finer the sanding, the more attractive the surface will be. Parts of the floor must be plugged up after mid-range sanding.
3. Fine sanding
Before the floor is treated with waxes, glazes or sealants, the last stage of sanding, fine sanding, takes place. In general, the following applies: The more precise the co-ordination of the sanding stages and the finer the sanding, the better the surface will be.
In general, there are no rules governing the sanding of wooden floors which provide detailed information on which grains must be used for sanding. It always depends on the floor in each individual case.
