Sanding stages for floors:
1. Pre-sanding
Levelling of the parquet floor normally occurs in the first sanding stages. Here, the floor is pre-treated with relatively coarse-grain sanding material and sanded as flat as possible.
Caution: Unevenness in the sub-floor can only partially be remedied by sanding down.
2. Mid-range sanding
The mid-range sanding leads to refinement of the surface. The more precise the coordination of the sanding stages and the finer the sanding, the more aesthetically pleasing the surface will be. The treated parts of the floor must be coated with filler after mid-range sanding.
3. Finishing
Before the floor is treated with wax, varnish or sealant, the last stage of sanding, fine sanding, takes place. The following generally applies: The more precise the coordination of the sanding stages and the finer the sanding, the more aesthetically pleasing the surface will be. In general, there are no rules governing the sanding of parquet and which grain should be used. It always depends on the floor in each individual case.
